Hi, folks! Today, we’re pleased to announce that we’re set to make a return to the Rising Sun in Ickford on Saturday 29th January.

We’re super excited to be back, especially after December’s event was called off due to mounting concerns around COVID ahead of Christmas. The event will run from 7 PM to 11 PM and we’ll be on the lineup alongside a bunch of other awesome acts, so do come on down.

We’ve created a Facebook event that you can mark your attendance on as a reminder, and be sure to follow the Rising Sun Facebook page for more updates including the full line-up.

It’s due to kick off at about 8:30/9 PM, so be sure to head on over for a beer or three and a few tunes. There’s a rumour that we’ll be playing a certain sweary Christmas song, so it’s not one to be missed!

New Live Date: The Rising Sun, Ickford, October 23rd 2021

Hi, folks! Just a quick update to let you know that we’re returning to the Rising Sun in Ickford on October 23rd 2021!

We had a great time with Dean and Ali and crew during our last visit, and this time we’ll be taking Matt along to play cajon. We were outside last time, but it was one of the last nice days of the summer and so this time, we’ll be playing inside.

The music kicks off at 2 PM and we’re going to be on relatively early because Dane has to be back to work at the arts centre in the evening. There are also a bunch of other fantastic acts on the bill, so be sure to come along if you’re in the area!

You can find out more about the event on its Facebook page or in the flyer above. In the meantime, be sure to follow The Ilk on Facebook and Instagram and to check out our music on Bandcamp and Spotify. We’ll see you soon!

New Gig Alert: Rising Sun in Ickford

Hi, folks! Okay, okay, it’s a little bit last minute, but we wanted to let you know that we’ve been asked to step in to play a set at the Rising Sun in Ickford this Saturday.

Organised by Dean Butler, it features a cracking line-up of musicians, many of whom we know from the Open Micsolate Facebook group. Acts include Wendy Grace, Simon Gregory, Andrew Hogger and Kimberley Williams.

Unfortunately, our good friend Nick Atkinson had to pull out, and so we agreed to play a duo set in his slot at three PM ish. We hope to see lots of you there!

You can find out more about the event in the poster above or on the Facebook page, and you can also follow the Ilk on Facebook and Instagram while you’re at it. Our new album, 12 Step Programme, is also out on Spotify.

We’re Returning to The Phoenix on October 13th!

Hi, folks! Just a quick update today to let you know that we’ve got a gig coming up.

We’re pleased to announce that we’ve been invited back to The Phoenix Bar in High Wycombe to perform an acoustic set as part of their series of acoustic sessions.

We’ve played there a few times in the past, including a notable gig in December 2020 that was the last chance we got to play together for six months or so, and we were also there back in July for one of the last shows that our friend Sam Pritchard organised before sadly passing away.

And so we’re excited to be heading back on the evening of October 13th, and we hope that you’ll come and join us. We’ve got plenty of great tunes planned including a few fan favourites, a bunch of originals and some covers that we haven’t performed for a while, so be sure to stop by and say hello.

You can find out more about the gig on the Facebook event page, and be sure to follow The Ilk and the Phoenix while you’re at it. You can also follow the Ilk on Instagram. We’ll see you at a show sometime soon!

Depression and Mediocrity is out now!

Hi, folks! Dane here. We figured it was about time we updated the website to reflect the fact that our brand new EP, Depression and Mediocrity, is out now!

Because we’re a little bit old school, it’s currently out solely as a limited edition run of 100 CDs. A digital version will follow at a later date, so keep your eyes peeled for that too.

The CDs are available for a fiver and feature three songs by me and three songs by Dave, with additional vocals from Amanda de Gray and Clarissa James on The Same Sun Shines On Everyone. Thanks also to Mark Page and Simon Falconer for the photos and Siddhartha Ramaswarmy for the mastering.

Chat to me or Dave at an open mic or other event to ask for a CD and we’ll be more than happy to help out. Thanks as always for your support and we hope to see you at a show sometime soon!
